The Segas Family

The Segas family has long tradition of offering a personalised and authentic Greek hospitality service. This is really difficult to find anymore in the world of branding and consistency of international chains. The service here is never perfect or consistent, as our guests are not always in need of the same things. But we all relax and communicate and we make things happen. This is the main reason for our guests to come back and we have now learned to appreciate that as our main strength!!!

A warm welcome

Maria, Maria-Katerina, Stella and Aristedes

Hotel Segas was established by the late Michael Segas back in 1965 assisted by his wife Catherine. Since then the hotel has undergone different phases and upgrades, from being a rooms-to-let house to a modern hotel. Their two children, son Aristedes and daughter Maria are now responsible for managing the hotel. Mama-Catherine is the main host and in charge of the day-to-day operation of the hotel. Aristedes is the Managing Director and Maria is the Sales and Marketing Director. The everyday housekeeping is in the capable hands of Eleni. She ensures that all rooms are properly cleaned and maintained. Her daughter (yes another) Maria is also seen at the hotel helping her.

The late Papa-Segas established the basis of the hotel with his wife Catherine in 1965

The sudden death of Papa Sega in April 2000 has left a major  gap in our family and the hotel life. It was the support and encouragement of our extended family that saw us through the difficult times.

Aristedes graduated from the local high school. He joined a local sweets factory where he was promoted to Director. In the summer time he spends most of his mornings in his day job and the evenings at the hotel. During the winter months fishing becomes a serious business. Whenever there is a good catch it is party time for the neighbourhood... Aristedes is married to Vasso a staff nurse at the Corinth hospital, in charge of the Pediatric Unit. Their daughter Maria (junior)-Katerina, is finishing School shortly. She is acting as young, siesta-time receptionist, while practicing her foreign language skills.

Maria graduated from Switzerland with a degree in Hotel Management. She completed her academic studies at the University of Surrey in the UK, with the Masters degree in Tourism Management. Maria also spent many years learning languages and she speaks English, French, German, Italian and some Spanish. She then worked for the Intercontinental Hotels in London for several years. Maria is married to Dr Dimitrios Buhalis, a senior Tourism and Hospitality Academic working in the UK. Dimitrios lists marketing the hotel in his hobbies and is in charge of the Internet presence. Their  daughter Stella-Maria started training behind the reception desk at the age of 4 months, smiling and welcoming guests! Now almost 6 years old she is seen serving breakfast and entertaining guests in August.

 THE FUTURE OF THE FAMILY!

Dimitrios with Stella-Maria (4 months at the time!) on a training session behind the reception desk! She smiled enough to get lots of tips and presents from guests!!! Stella is now almost 7 years old and serves breakfast! Maria (junior) - Katerina is an artistic kid doing both dance and Taek-wo-do at the same time!

Our extended family-our guests : Nobody stays here only once !

We feel our guests as an extension of our extensive family. Over the years we came to realise that our guests are our extended family. They have been with us in our best times, such as weddings and celebrations, as well as in our worst times and particularly when we lost Papa Sega. After all, there are few hotels in the world where many guests often spend more than 60 days a year. Our guests told us that they come back to be part of the family - us and our other guests! They often meet people at the hotel and develop friendships. They spend their holidays together or visit each other at home.

This is why we make sure they feel at home. Some of them have been coming for years and they have become what some people call "part of the furniture". We feel proud to admit that the majority of our clientele are repeat customers. In most cases our guests are our best marketers, as word of mouth is responsible for more than 40% of our visitors. They even bring us new tour operators and other agencies! (Dimitrios has written this as a case study in his eTourism book!).

HENNING AND ANNELISE from Denmark have been at the hotel more than 20 times in the last 8 years. They spend more than 30 days with us every year. Experienced from Loutraki they have their network of friends and suppliers! They normally get together with their friends and arrange with other friends that have met at the hotel to get together. They normally stay in room 32... do not ask why and more importantly do not ask for that room when they are here!!! Henning  is so committed to us that when Spies decided to cancel Loutraki as a destination he got us in touch with other tour operators and decided to come to Loutraki independently.

We are privileged to offer hospitality to a great variety of people, in terms of age, nationality and interests. Many guests are Greek as well as from Denmark, Sweden Italy, France, Austria, Japan, the UK and the Netherlands.  They come from different parts of the world. Yet when they leave, they have become friends with each other. They never say good bye, they only remind us "see you next time" or "see you sooner than you think!". If you would like to be part of a family, to be looked after in a warm and traditional way, why don’t you come and stay with us and feel "at home, away from home!".
